The Church of England should make a lead into saving energy and fossil fuels.
All Church’s in U.K. have been built so that they have a South facing Roof.
I propose that they all have photo voltaic Solar Panels or tiles put on to cover the maximum are that is viable. All the surplus energy to be sold to the Grid the church can also claim ROC certificates that can be sold to electricity generating companies.
The result of this action will save the country huge amounts of energy and reduce the need for burning fissile fuels.
I do not know if churches in other countries in particular the common wealth also have south facing roofs, but if they do there is a very good case for them to install the same solar panels.
The amount of solar panels and orders to do this project will mean that the church will have a strong purchasing power to buy at very good prices and many people will be employed, at a time when work is desperately needed.

For those who believe that C02 is dangerous, there is the added benefit that no Co2 emissions will be incurred.

The church will get its money back in only a few years so what is preventing it happening?

Don’t tell me they look bad, they do not look much different to an ordinary roof but if you are going to be picky then install solar tiles you could not tell the difference from ordinary tiles.
